PRUDENTIAL BUILDING SYDNEY, Opened May 1939, in silvered (64mm) (C.1939/4), by Amor, edge impressed, 'Kenneth B. Noad, M.B., M.R.C.P. (Lond.), F.R.A.C.P. Principal Medical Officer'. Toned extremely fine.

The Prudential Assurance Company's new building in Martin Place, Sydney was officially opened in a ceremony performed by the NSW Premier, Sir Bertram Stevens KCMG. A luncheon was then held at the new Romano's restaurant which was in the building. There were over 300 guests representing various professions and businesses in Sydney. Sir George Barstow of England, deputy chairman of the company was in attendance with his wife. Other notable guests included the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress (Ald and Mrs N.L.Nock), Mr and Mrs J.F.Hennessy, Sir George and Lady Julius, Mr and Mrs Colin Sinclair, Mr W.M. and Dame Mary Hughes, Dr and Mrs K.B.Noad, Mr and Mrs R.C.Chapple, Mrs Florence Taylor, Miss Ruby Board and Miss E.M.Kiss.

Kenneth Beeson 'Bob' Noad was born at Maitland, NSW on 25 March 1900 and died at Elizabeth Bay in Sydney on 24 May 1987. He was one of the first neurologists in Sydney and was honorary physician at the Sydney Hospital and consultant neurologist at the Concord Repatriation General Hospital. He made important research contributions to the study of scrub fever and hyperparathyroidism (when the parathyroid glands behind the thyroid at the bottom of the neck create too much parathyroid hormone in the bloodstream). He served on the council of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for 14 years and was president from 1962 to 1964. He was an original member of the Australian Academy of Forensic Sciences and also held many other important medical positions throughout his career as well as serving with the AIF from 1940 to 1946 as a Lieutenant Colonel with 2/11 Australian General Hospital.
