INDIA, Kushan Empire, Vasudeva I (c.190-230 A.D.), gold dinar, 20mm, (7.94 g), struck at the main mint in Baktria (Balkh?), obv. partial legend around, Vasudeva I standing facing, diademed and crowned, head to left, sacrificing over altar, flames at right shoulder, filleted trident on right in his left hand, rev. Ithyphallic Siva (Shiva) standing facing, holding diadem and trident; OpHo to right, behind the bull Nandi standing to left; tamgha to upper left, (Gobl 519, MK 512, ANS Kushan 1082, Donum Burns 421-2). Extremely fine and very rare variety.
