FRANCE, Exposition Universelle Agriculture, Industrie, Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts), Paris 1855, uniface award medal in bronze (59mm), two fold-over prongs on reverse for attaching to exhibit, obverse inscribed, 'Awarded To/Tress & Compy/Class 25 Silk Hats'. Very fine.

Tress & Co of London were world famous hat makers. The firm was established in 1846, operating for over one hundred years before selling the business to Christy's of Bermondsey in 1953. Tress & Co was awarded prize medals in Paris 1855 and 1867, London 1862, Philadelphia 1876 and Sydney 1879.
