1887 PROOF HALF SOVEREIGN, Victoria, 1837-1901. S-3869, W&R 362 (Scarce). 4.03g. Obverse - Joachim E. Boehm's Jubilee bust with small crown and veil, J.E.B. on truncation. Reverse - J.B.Merlen's crowned garnished shield, the base of garnish splits the date, Detail on the inner shield and crown are more delicate than the later proof, with the crown exhibiting two smaller fleurs de lis. Deep cameo, FDC and scarce.
