1888 REGULAR MAUNDY SET WITH CASE - 1ST YEAR WITH JUBILEE BUST, This set was included in the collection as it represents the first year of new designs for the Maundy series, Victoria, 1837-1901. S-3943, ESC-3551, Davies-1470 (C) Plain edge. Obverse -Jubilee bust. Reverse - Updated version of Merlen's oak leaf surrounding crowned value design introduced in 1822. Designed and engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon, it is still used today. The Imperial crown has replaced the St Edwards crown and the Arabic numeral 2 replaced with a more squared version Four coins -4d 1.90g, 3d 1.42g, 2d 0.93g and 1d 0.46g. Grey brown toned, uncirculated. (4)
