1893 PROOF SIXPENCE, Victoria, 1837-1901. S-3941, ESC-3286, Davies 1181 Dies 2 A. 2.82g. Edge straight-grained. Reverse - The Mint retained the modified Merlen "value within the wreath" design which rapidly replaced the square-topped shield in the Garter design used for the 1887 sets. Imperial Crown above SIX PENCE surrounded by a spray of laurel and oak leaves tied by a ribbon into a wreath, with 1893 below. Grey and olive brilliance, FDC and scarce.
