ITALY, Lucania, Metapontion, (c.225-200 B.C.), AE 15, (3.18 g), obv. Athena Alkidemos walking left, brandishing thunderbolt, rev. owl standing left on ear of barley, META to right, (S.624, Johnston, "The Bronze Coinage of Metapontum," in Kraay-M?rkholm Essays, 68; SNG ANS 565; HN Italy 1704). Nice attractive dark brown patina, nearly extremely fine and rare.
