MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.06 g), uncertain Western Asia mint, issued c.323-280 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, 9A and **PA* monograms to left, to right **[A]LEXANDRO[U]*. (cf.S.6730, Price 2759, BMC -, M.-, Kikazli 720). Toned, good very fine with some hoard patination, very rare with only one reported example.
