HERACLIUS, (A.D. 610-641), follis, Cyzicus mint, year 3 = 612-3, (11.51 g), obv. Heraclius helmeted head facing, DN HRACL PERP AVG around rev. M over B, ANNO to left II/I to right, cross above, KYZ in exergue, (S.839, DOC 169b, BMC 260-1, To.71, Ra.1312). Clear features on a large full flan, with earthen patina good very fine and rare.

Ex CNG private purchase January 2013, coming from Stack's Bowers Galleries (& Ponterio) Sale 172, 16 November 2012 (lot 11900 part) from the collection sold as the Demarete Collection, being the collection of Elvira Clain-Stefanelli (item No.4450 from her collection) with her packet.
