A.I.F. on first medal, 44 Sgt L.W.Bizley. 8/L.H.Rgt. A.I.F. on second and third medals, B3/335 L.W.Bizley on last three medals. All medals impressed.; (Son) Trio: Naval General Service Medal (GVIR Fid:DeF), - clasp - Minesweeping 1945-51; Korea Medal 1950-53; United Nations Korea Medal 1950-53. 31338 P.H.Bizley. All medals impressed. Some medals with contact marks, otherwise very fine.

Together with ANZAC Commemorative Medallion, in bronze (50x75mm) (C.1915/3), issued in 1967, engraved, 'L.W.Bizley', in case of issue.

Father: Leonard William Bizley, accountant, born 08Mar1894 at Sandgate, Qld; WWI: Enl.09Sep1914 at Melbourne, Vic while serving in CMF; Emb. to Gallipoli 16May1915; WIA GSW left ankle 07Aug1915 at the Nek, Gallipoli; RTA 12Dec1915; Disch.23Mar1916 as Medically Unfit; Re-Enl.01Aug1917 in AIF, with 6 years service in CMF, 19 months in AIF and at the time Lieut in 13th Gippsland Light Horse; Appt to Sea Transport Service 13Aug1917; Disemb.19Oct1917 at Suez and TOS of AIF; RTA 27Oct1917; Appt terminated 16Feb1918. WWII: Enl.05Jul1940 at Melbourne, Vic in CMF (V8083) (Note: medal entitlement sheet shows number as B3/335) and appt Lieut; to T/Capt 15Oct1941; to Captain 01Sep1942; Disch.03May1944 ex 2 Infy Training School and placed on Retired List (3MD); trf to Retired List (1MD) 06Nov1947.

Son: Peter Horace Bizley, born 22Nov1927 at Prahran, Vic; Joined RAN 22Jul1946; Served on minesweeper HMAS Warrnambool from 14Jan1947 until 13Sep1947 when she was sunk while minesweeping the Great Barrier Reef to clear mines laid during WWII; AB P.Bizley was one of those injured and was admitted to Greenslopes Hospital in Brisbane; Re-Enl.30Jun1950; served in Korea as Able Seaman on HMAS Murchison 09May1951 to 19Feb1952; Disch.29Jun1956
