A.I.F. on last medal. All medals impressed.; (Son) Trio: 1939-45 Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. First medal unnamed, QX31965 E.J.O'Sullivan on last two medals. The named medals impressed. All medals display mounted as a group, the third medal with reverse showing, very fine - nearly uncirculated.

Together with King's Silver War Badge, reverse numbered A59042; WWII Returned from Active Service badge, reverse numbered A338161; RSL member's badge (KC) (3 figure type), reverse numbered 025201; Rising Sun hat badge (KC) in bronze; Certificate of Discharge for QX31965 Private Eric James O'Sullivan, records War Badge R.A.S. No. A338161 (see above).

E.J.O'Sullivan entitled to 1939-45 Star and Pacific Star which, in February 1984, his wife declared were presumably lost during flooding in 1974 but she was advised that replacements could not be issued as the recipient, her husband, had passed away and replacements could only be issued to the original recipient. It appears she has purchased an unnamed 1939-45 Star but not a Pacific Star.

Father: Philip Joseph O'Sullivan, blacksmith, age 35, born at Blackwater, County Kerry, Ireland; Enl.01Sep1914 at Brisbane, Qld in 2 Light Horse; Appt Shoeing Smith 24Sep1914; Emb.24Sep1914; arrived in Egypt 06Dec1914; revert to Pte 04Nov1915; Appt Shoeing Smith 29Dec1915 (the movements in appointments being the subject of an investigation and subsequent ruling); fought at Battle of Romani 03-05Aug1916; reported ill at Romania 05Sep1916; to hospital with malaria & anaemia 19Sep1916; RTA 21Nov1916; Disch.14Feb1917 Medically Unfit; Died 12Nov1936 at Brisbane, Qld and was buried at Toowong Cemetery.

Son: Eric James O'Sullivan, wardsman, age 30, born at Brisbane, Qld; Enl.04May1942 at Brisbane, Qld; Emb.28Aug1942; TOS 2/12 Bn 11Sep1942 which captured Goodenough Island in Oct1942 and then operated a 'Ghost' force to bluff the enemy from using it as a forward base; RTA Dec1942 and was suffering with malaria; returned to New Guinea and fought at Buna, attacking Giropa Point 01Jan1943 and then at Sanananda; RTA Mar1943; to Port Moresby and deployed to Lae to fight in Finisterre Mountains, Shaggy Ridge and the Ramu Valley; RTA and sent to Townsville in Jun1944 with malaria; temp located with 2/25 Aust Transport Platoon but evacuated again with malaria to Townsville; Disch.17Apr1946 as Private ex 2/12 Aust Infy Bn; Died 25Aug1977 at Brisbane, Qld and was buried at Bridgeman Downs, Brisbane City, Qld
