GROUP OF EIGHT: 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Italy Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; Korea Medal 1950-53; United Nations Korea Medal 1950-53. The sixth medal unnamed, 41219 B.McDermott on all other medals. All named medals impressed. Court mounted, some contact marks on fourth and fifth medals, otherwise very fine - good very fine.
Not entitled to Australia Service Medal 1939-45. As Royal Navy WWII medals were issued unnamed it seems that the above medals were numbered after B.McDermott joined the RAN and they bear his RAN service number.
Bernard McDermott, born 12Sep1924 at Earlestown, Merseyside, England; WWII: served in Royal Navy 11Jan1943 to 17Jul1946; joined RAN 11Oct1950, recruited in UK, Service No. R41219; Korea: served as Able Seaman on HMAS Sydney 31Aug1951 to 22Feb1952; Disch.09May1956.
