NAVAL WAR AUXILIARY BADGE, in gilt and enamel (28x20mm), by J.M.Dempster, pin-back. Very fine and scarce.

The Naval War Auxiliary was formed by women of Australia after the start of the war in 1939. It provided garments to RAN personnel and men on minesweepers and patrol boats to keep them warm and comfortable and also rendered invaluable service to relatives of men lost in ships of the RAN. It also held functions to raise funds to help in their activities to assist RAN personnel during the war. Members also provided assistance during the exhibition of the captured Japanese midget submarine in Sydney.
