AUSTRALIA, WWII, Rabaul, original b&w photographs of Rabaul including the surrender of the Japanese on 12 September 1945, all photographs annotated on the reverse with descriptions including "General Sturdee signing the surrender", "Brigadier Sheehan HMAS Swan", "General Blamey comes ashore Rabaul", photos provided by the Military History Section. Very fine and rare. (17)

This is an interesting group of original WWII photographs depicting the Japanese munitions dumps, tunnels and eventual surrender of the Japanese on Rabaul.
