AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NEW SOUTH WALES, 1879, prize medal in bronze (89mm), by Hardy Brothers London & Sydney, reverse inscribed, 'E.B.Woodhouse/Durham Cow/Sydney 1879'. With a few small oxidation spots on obverse, otherwise extremely fine.

Medals dated 1879 are sought after as these prize medals were awarded to those exhibits judged at the Sydney Exhibition Grounds rather than at the agricultural society grounds. In the 1879 competition well known breeder E.B.Woodhouse exhibited with imported as well as Mount Gilead bred stock. Mount Gilead is about 58kms south-west of Sydney, part of the Macarthur region. One of his entries, Miss Fox, was awarded second place in the section, Durham Cow, three years.
