MACEDON, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), jeweller's copy gold stater, Pella mint, issued period III, 323/2-315 B.C., obv. head of Apollo to right with laureate wreath, rev. galloping biga driven by charioteer holding kentron in right hand, reins in left hand, helmet below, in exergue **FILIPPOV*, (cf.S.6663, SNG Cop. 528). Very fine, housed within a gilt oval support frame of sterling silver.
