THESSALY, Thessalian League, (c.196-mid -late 1st century B.C.), silver drachm, (4.05 g), Larissa mint, Androsthenes and Aristokles magistrates, obv. head of Apollo to right, laureate, behind **[EPI A NDROS/[SQENOUS]*, rev. Athena Itonia advancing to right, brandishing spear and holding shield, on sides **QESSA LWN*, left and right, monograms **[ARIS] /TO/KL-H/S* inner right and left, (cf.S.2234, BCD Thessaly I -, BCD Thessaly II 891.3, HGC 4, 213). Lightly toned, good very fine and very rare.

Ex BCD Collection (cost 300 SFr in Feb. 1993), acquired from CNG eSAle 375 June 1, 2016 (lot 316).
