SEVERUS ALEXANDER, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued 225, Rome Mint, (3.89 g), obv. laureate bust to right, draped, around IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, rev. P M TR P IIII COS P P, the emperor sacrificing out of a patera to a tripod, holding a scroll, (cf.S.7899, RIC 50, RSC 276, BMC 259). Brilliant as struck, good extremely fine, a scarce type in this condition.
