CARAUSIUS, (A.D. 287-293), billon antoninianus, Colchester (Clausentum) Mint, issued 292-293 A.D., (4.72 g), obv. radiate draped and cuirassed bust of Carausius to right, around IMP C CARAVSIVS P F AVG, rev. around P A X AVG Pax standing to left, holding branch and transverse sceptre, (S.13666, RIC 319). Deep green earthen patina, areas of flat striking, good very fine and very scarce.

Ex Chichester, August 1997 with Baldwin, London ticket.
