Battery Quarter Sergeant Major Henry Bentley, Battery E, D Brigade, Royal Horse Artillery; served 6.4 years in India; was born in Parish of St James near town of Edgbaston in County of Warwick; joined Royal Artillery at Hythe in County of Kent on 28Nov1855 at age 18 and listed occupation as portmanteau maker (large suitcase maker); to Bombardier 17Sep1857, Corporal 23Nov1858, Sergeant 03Jan1862, Master Sergeant 01Sep1870, By Qr Mr Sgt date unknown.
