John Aleric Whamond, hairdresser, age 28, born at Bourke, NSW; Enl.18Aug1914 at Ripponlea, Vic, with 6 years previous service in school cadets; Emb.21Oct1914 to join MEF; to 2AGH, Cairo with influenza 11Dec1914; to 2AGH, Cairo with septic buttock 30Mar1915; Disch.08Apr1915 from hospital; rejoined 5Bn at Anzac 03May1915; to hospital at Mudros with rheumatic fever 16May1915; to 19 Gen Hosp Alexandria with chronic rheumatism then to Convalescent Depot Mustapha with rheumatism 25May1915; discharged from hospital 28Jun1915 for return to Australia; RTA 05Jul1915 with rheumatic fever; Disch.26Jan1916 Medically Unfit; Died 18Nov1957.
