Fred Edward Pound, salesman, age 19, born at Bideford, Devon, England; Enl.10Feb1916 at Perth, WA, while currently serving, and 4 years earlier was rejected for service in the navy as he was too small; Emb.06Jun1916; to France 08Jan1917; various stays in hospital until returned to England and hospitalised with trench fever; rejoined 44Bn 10Sep1917; WIA 06Oct1917, shelling concussion, to Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty 10Oct1917; rejoined 44Bn 11Oct1917; RTA 04Jan1919; Disch.07Apr1919.

Post war Fred Pound was the licensee of the Railway Hotel at Mullewa in the mid west region of Western Australia about 450 kms north of Perth and later the Club Hotel in the same area. During WWII he was the YMCA officer for the Melville Camp in a suburb of Perth.
