Can/R.252961. F/Sgt. J.D.Dixon. R.C.A.F. on first medal, second to sixth and eighth medals unnamed as issued, 4015010 F.Sgt. J.D.Dixon. RAF. on seventh medal, and 4015010 Sgt. J.D.Dixon. R.A.F. on last two medals. All named medals engraved. Mounted on a display card, very fine - extremely fine.

DFM: Supplement to LG 21/9/1945, p4706 - to Can/R.252961 Flt Sgt. John Dallas Dixon, RCAF, No.427 (RCAF) Sqn.

Recommendation: This Air Gunner has completed 29 heavy operational bombing attacks against the enemy and his work at all times has been of an extremely high calibre. He possesses coolness and displays exceptional fearlessness in the face of danger and his cheerful confidence, loyalty and devotion to duty has inspired a high standard of morale not only in his crew but to all who come in contact with him. In view of Flight Sergeant Dixon's splendid record, I recommend that he be awarded the non-immediate Distinguished Flying Medal. (19 April 1945)

Remarks by Station Commander: Flight Sergeant Dixon is an extremely capable Air Gunner with a fine operational record. Possessing a fine offensive spirit and a cheerful disposition, he has been an inspiring influence on the rest of the crew. He has been a decided asset to the squadron. Recommended for the non-immediate Distinguished Flying Medal.

RCAF Operation Wings: On the authority of the Chief of the Air Staff Flight Sergeant J.D.Dixon has been awarded the Operational Wings of the Royal Canadian Air Force in recognition of gallant service, in that he has completed a tour of operational duty in action against the enemy. (The research includes a copy of the page of a book which explains this award. The award to Flt Sgt Dixon is recorded on his service file.)
