GREAT BRITAIN, 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot, 1835-55, officer's shoulder belt plate in gilt, white metal and enamel, with matted back plate and velvet behind crown, the central green area covered with clear resin, with original leather backing. Extremely fine.

The 39th arrived in Australia in late 1825 and established headquarters in Sydney. Detachments served in Tasmania, Western Australia and Bathurst in New South Wales. The regiment sailed for India on 5 July 1832.
