VATICAN, Papal States, Paul III (1535-1549), silver medalet, possibly by Benvenuto Cellini, obv. cojoined heads of St Paul and St. Peter, around S.PAVLVS. S.PETER. APOSTO, (1735), rev. Saul on the Damascus road, SAVL.SAVL. QVID. ME. PERSEQVE, dated 1535. Extremely fine with dark tone.

Cellini was in Rome at this time engaged to produce medals for Pope Paul III.
