BRITISH WAR MEDAL 1914-18. Carmelo Stivala. Impressed. No ribbon, toned very fine.

Possibly Fireman Carmelo Stivala, Malta RNR, service no. 187G.^^Carmelo Stivala, born 1892 at Malta; husband of Maria Stivala, a resident of Vittorosia, Malta; died 20Jan1918 at age 40 while serving as a fireman on HMS Louvain, an armed boarding steamer, torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat UC.22 in the Aegean Sea on 20Jan1918; commemorated at the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
