GROUP OF FOUR TO POW: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45; Territorial Efficiency Medal (Indiae.Imp). First three medals unnamed as issued, 909420. Gnr. G.E.Spirling. R.A. on last medal. The named medal impressed. Good very fine - extremely fine.
Together with King's Badge in box of issue; Soldier's Service and Pay Book; octagonal fibre compound dog tag named to 'Spirling/G E/909420/B'; POW double metal tag impressed, 'Stalag XVIII A/6921'; also Finland Army general's advancing lion with raised sword single (right facing) rank insignia badge.^^909420 George Ernest Spirling, gardener, born 27Jul1919; Enl.04May1939 at Felixstone, Suffolk, England; served in MEF 29Jul1941 to 19Jun1942; POW in Italy and Germany 20Jun1942 to 01Jun1945 (In Germany he was in Stalag XVIII A Wolsberg, POW No.6921); Disch.31Jan1946 ex Royal Artillery.
