MARCUS AURELIUS, (A.D. 161-180), AE dupondius, issue struck at Rome in A.D.168-9, (12.118 grams), obv. M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXIII, head radiate to right, rev. around SALVTI AVG COS III, S C across the field, Salus standing to left, feeding snake twined around altar, holding sceptre, (S.5042, RIC 965, cf.C.545). Dark even dark attractive patination, nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.
