EDWARD THE CONFESSOR, (1042-1066), silver penny, small flan type, London Mint, issued 1048-1050, moneyer Goldsige, (1.19 g), obv. diademed bust left, no sceptre or inner circle, with three pellets on sleeve of drapery to edge of flan, dividing +EDPERD REX around, rev. short cross voided with pellet in centre, no inner circle, +GOLDSIG ON LV around, (S.1175, N.818, BMC ii). Toned, slight flan crinkling, obverse slightly off centre, very fine and scarce.
