MACEDON, Kingdom of, Demetrios Poliorcetes, (294-288 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.014 grams), Ephesus mint, issued 301-295 B..C., obv. Nike blowing trumpet and holding mast to left on prow, rev. Poseidon striding to left brandishing trident and holding chlamys on outstretched left arm, star over A to right in field, monogram of HAP to left in field, below **BASILEWS*, to right **DHMHTMIOU*, (cf.S.6762, Newell 52, Pl.V, 14-15, Pl.VI, 1; de Luynes 1690). Off centred on obverse, surface porosity, otherwise very fine and rare.
