ATTICA, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.414 grams), issued 130-129 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 98-97 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, Gorgon head to right, A on amphora, legend across **A QE, to left **NI KH THS, DIO NU SIOS, EMBI, AP* below, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 953a-e [same obverse die], month for I not listed). Good very fine and rare.
