MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.49 g), Babylon II mint, issued c.311-300 B.C. issued under Seleukos I Nikator, obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, in exergue **BASILEWS*, upright anchor and A to left, **ALEXANDROU* to right, M below throne, (cf.S.6713, Price 3359 (Arados), SC 94.6b, BMC 3359a-b, M.1511, Newell WSM Pl.xliv, A, HGC 9, 10g). Very fine, scarce.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 129, lot 3194. Previously Patrick Cooper Collection, and from CNG Triton VI, 14-15 January 2003 (lot 1565 part), bought from the E.A. Buttle Collection, May-June 1991 for ?110.
