BOIOTIA, Thebes, (Circa 395-338 B.C.), issued 390-382 B.C. silver stater (12.21 g), Timi.. Magistrate, obv. Boiotian shield, rev. amphora with club in left field downwards, across fields TI - MI all within concave circle, (cf.S.2398, Myron Hoard [Pl.E, 21 same dies, BCD 479 [This Coin], Hepworth A2 No.87 [This Coin, illustrated], Weber 3282 [same reverse die], Coin Hoards IV, fig 4,11 [This Coin], HGC 4, 1330). Toned, nearly extremely fine, slightly off centred on reverse, obverse in high relief and rare.

Ex BCD Collection, CNG Triton Auction IX, January 10, 2006 (lot 479), illustratred in Coin Hoards IV (figure 4, No.11) from a hoard found in Greece c.1970, buried in 340 B.C., the hoard is believed to be that found at Atrax in 1968 ICGH 58.
This is the coin illustrated in Hepworth No.87 in table XIII.. Lot includes extensive detailed collector's description ticket with flip including CNG ticket.
