IONIA, Teos, (495/490-478 B.C.), silver didrachm or stater, (11.80 g), obv. Griffin seated to right on base line, with raised foreleg, before upwards THI, rev. incuse square of rough form, (cf.S.4576, Balcer [SNR 1968, Vol.47], No., 28 [A-/P-], example in Berlin). Odd shaped flan but of full weight, otherwise good very fine and very rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 85 (lot 1451) and previously from Fritz Rudolf Kunker Munzhandlung, Auction Sale 94, September 27, 2004 (lot 1120).
