AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), AE as, posthumous issue, Rome mint, issued under Tiberius, issued 34-37 A.D., (9.14 g), obv. radiate head to left of Augustus, around [DIVVS] AVGVSTVS PATER, rev. S C across, winged thunderbolt, (S.1791, RIC 83, BMC 157, C.249). Brown patina, with monogram countermark on reverse, weak in places, otherwise fine and rare.

Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection, as purchased from Baldwin's London with their ticket.
