COMMODUS, as Caesar, (A.D. 166-177), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 175-6, (3.19 g), obv. bare headed and draped bust of Commodus to right, around COMMODO CAES AVG FIL GERM SARM, rev. around HILA RITAS, Hilaritas standing facing, head to left, holding long palm and cornucopiae, (S.5544, RIC 611, RSC 216, BMC 644). Lightly toned, traces of mint bloom, nearly extremely fine and rare.
