JULIA MAMAEA, mother of Severus Alexander, (A.D.222-235), brass dupondius, issued 228, (10.95 g), obv. diademed bust right, around IVLIA MAMA EA AVGVSTA, rev. Felicitas standing front with caduceus and leaning on column, around FELICITAS PVBLICA, S C across, (S.8238, RIC 678, C.23, BMC 493). Brass coloured with dark patination, very fine or better and scarce.

One of a rare series of dupondii issued in this period made with brass to identify its denomination.
