DIOCLETIAN, (A.D. 284-305), silver argenteus, Rome Mint, issued A.D. c.294-5, (3.04 g), obv. laureate head of Diocletian to right, around DIOCLETI ANVS AVG, rev. around VIRTVS MILITVM, the four tetrarchs sacrificing over tripod before city enclosure with six turrets, plain below, (S.12617, RIC 27a, RSC 516e, Jelocnik 40a). Toned, with golden-blue enhancement, well centred, as struck uncirculated and very rare.
