BASIL I, The Macedonian, (867-886), AE 18, (4.45 g), Cherson Mint, struck circa 879-886, obv. Large B, rev. Cross crosslet on two steps, dots either side, (S.1719, Anokhin 360-75, DOC 20a). Fine - very fine, rare.

Ex CNG private purchase January 2013, coming from Stack's Bowers Galleries (& Ponterio) Sale 172, 16 November 2012 (lot 11900 part) from the collection sold as the Demarete Collection, being the collection of Elvira Clain-Stefanelli (item No.4409 from her collection) with her packet.
