PAIR: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899 (type 3 reverse), - three clasps - Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902; British War Medal 1914-18. 1448 Tpr: A.E.Pitt. Steinaecker's H. on first medal, 2960 Pte A.E.Pitt. 52 Bn. A.I.F. on second medal. Both medals impressed. Display mounted, some hairlines, otherwise good very fine.

Together with King's Silver War badge, reverse numbered A1369; circular aluminium dog tag impressed, '2960/A E Pitt/52 A 1/C E' Returned from Active Service badge (AIF), reverse numbered 2880.

British War Medal 1914-18 is full entitlement for WWI service.

Alfred Ernest Pitt, stockman, age 22, born at Ararat, Vic; (Boer War) Enl.23Aug1901 at Pietermaritzburg, Sth Africa in Steinaecker's Horsemen with previous service of 6 months in the Standerton Mounted Police; Disch.08May1902 at Pietermaritzburg as Medically Unfit. (WWI) Enl.08Sep1916 at Brisbane, Qld, in 7Rfts 52Bn; Emb.27Oct1916; various hospitalisations while with Trg Bn; RTA 21Jul1917 with rheumatism; Disch.16Oct1917 Medically Unfit.

With original WWI Certificate of Discharge which also notes issue of King's Silver War badge number A1369; copy of WWI Service File and other research.
