Between the wars, Sidney Cameron drove taxis and in 1930 he was charged with manslaughter. The Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday 12 February 1930 reported on page 12 as follows, 'Sidney Lindsay Cameron, a taxi-cab driver, was charged with having feloniously slain Paul Hilary John McMahon Swafield Lofting, a boy, 14 years of age, in William-street, city, on November 25. Mr. Dovey (instructed by Mr. Simon Isaacs) appeared for the accused. Alfred John Stephens, a taxi-cab driver, stated that he saw the cab driven by the accused swerve outwards to get past traffic. He was travelling at about 25 miles an hour. He struck the boy, who was waiting at the stopping-place for a tram, knocking him down. Constable Bush said that the accused was quite sober. At the conclusion of the Crown case, the Jury acquitted the accused without leaving the box.'
