Leslie James Nailer, farm labourer, age 18, born at Gray, East Coast, Tasmania; Enl.06Oct1915 at Claremont, Tas; to 4Rfts FArty Bde 15Dec1915; Emb.01Aug1916; TOS 14FAB 30Oct1916; TOS 2DAC 03Jan1917 in France; various postings; WIA 01Nov1917, GSW right arm, France; TOS 4FAB 05Mar1918; Tfr to Provost Corps, London 28Nov1918; married Ethel Emily Blackwell in London on 24Dec1918; RTA 26Jul1919 with his wife; Disch.31Oct1919.

Perhaps due to Leslie Nailer's war service experiences it is unfortunate that the marriage in England did not work out as the following was reported in The Register (Adelaide, South Australia) on Wednesday 8 September 1926, page 7. 'Ethel Emily Nailer, of Walkerville, sought a dissolution of her marriage with Leslie James Nailer. The parties were married in London in December, 1918, the respondent at that time being a member of the Australian Imperial Forces. The petitioner stated that they lived in Russel Square, London, for seven months, and then came to Tasmania. A child was born in December, 1919. The respondent made various confessions to his wife regarding his improper relations with other women, but she forgave him. The respondent deserted his wife, and committed adultery with other women. Mr. D. B. Ross appeared for the petitioner, who was granted a decree nisi, with the custody of the child.'

Note: Unley and Walkerville are located in South Australia.
