MESOPOTAMIAN, Ancient clay Mother Goddess, c.3000 B.C.
The early civilization of Mesopotamia produced artistic fertility figures known as Halafs which had exaggerated breasts and thighs, emphasizing motherhood. these were used for religious or magical purposes. They have been restored as they were often broken before being offered to the gods.
