Leicester: Regt on second medal, 81607 Pte. J.H.Basford. N.Z.E.F. on last medal. All medals impressed. Contact marks on first two medals, otherwise fine - extremely fine.

J.H.Basford confirmed as served in Anglo-Boer War with 1Bn Volunteer Service Coy of Leicester Regt.
John Henry Basford, civilian contractor, enlisted with NZEF; Emb.27Jul1918 with 41Rfts E Coy NZEF; John Henry Basford, late of Leicester, died on 23Jul1922 at the Auckland Hospital and was interred at Purewa Cemetery, Meadowbank, Auckland.
