G.C.S. (Gisborne Competitions Society), stock fob medal in gold (9ct, 8.6g, 32x27mm), by Stoneham (A.Stoneham, Dunedin), reverse inscribed '1st/Seann Truibhais'; N.S.C. (Ngatapa Sports Club), fob medal, hand engraved in gold (9ct, 3.7g, 35x32mm), by Stoneham (A.Stoneham, Dunedin), reverse inscribed '1st/Hornpipe (Under 12)/2-1-28'. Extremely fine, both with ring top suspensions. (2)
The N.S.C. gathering was held at Patutahi Domain and the winner of the Hornpipe (Under 12) was Phyllis McGhie. See next lot for another medal to Phyllis McGhie.
Seann Truibhais (also Truibhas) is a Highland Dance. The name is a gaelic phrase that means 'Old Trousers'. It is seen spelt in otherways such as in lot 1917 as Sheantruibhas, and lot 1924 as S.Truibhais.
