MASONIC, Order of the Eastern Star, Ch-Ch. Pioneer Chapt.526, struck in gold (9ct, tot wt 29.7g, 38mm) and enamel, by M&K Ld (Mayer & Kean, Wellington), ring top, chain and pin-back bar suspension, reverse inscribed 'Presented to/Sis. M.E.Johnstone/In Aprreciation of Services Rendered/W.M./1957-58'. Shield detached at top, otherwise very fine.

The Order of the Eastern Star is a Freemasonic appendant body open to both men and women. It was established in 1850 by lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a noted Freemason. The order is based on teachings from the Bible, but is open to people of all religious beliefs.
