SAMOA, handcrafted fob pendant, 1899, gold bearing quartz with ornate mount in gold (possibly 15ct, tot wt (incl stone) 4.9g, 33x15mm), no maker, ring top suspension, inscribed on one side 'Manuia' (best wishes) and on the other side 'E.M.B.', also finely inscribed around edge 'Ole Faamanatu i Ulai 3.99 Male Malaga Fiafia'. Extremely fine.

The inscription around the edge translates into English as 'In Remembrance July 3.99 Happy Voyage'.

Said to be the only known 19th Century Samoan fob.
