LANCE SHIELD, fob medal handcrafted in gold (15ct, tot wt 17.2g, 32x32mm), by G.C. & Co. (Giles Coates, Christchurch), ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'Major Chaffeys/200 Yds Aggregate/Won By/Corp. Willis/1904', reverse inscribed '2nd/Lance Shield'. Very fine.

The Lance Shield was competed for on Saturday 29th March 1904 at the Amuri Mounted Company's range at Culverden. Corporal Willis was second with 11 points in a time of 8 min 56 sec.
