SEDDON MEMORIAL MEDAL, 1911, Grey District Schools, struck in gold (probably 18ct, 19.0g, 29mm), by J.Cairney (John Cairney, Greymouth), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'C.A.Hudd/1925'. Extremely fine and very rare.

The medal was instituted by the Seddon Memorial Fund in 1911. Two gold medals of equal intrinsic value were awarded each year, one for the most proficient girl and one for the most proficient boy in the Grey Educational District. Proficiency was adjudged by competitive examination and was open to all children under fourteen years.
