N.Z.R. (New Zealand Railways), Member's Pass, c1880, struck in silver (22mm), by Kohn & Co (Siegfried Kohn, Wellington), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Hon./J.Bryce/M.H.R.' (Member House of Representatives). Extremely fine and very rare.

John Bryce (1833-1933) was a controversial figure. He was a Member of Parliament at various times from 1871-1891. He was Leader of the Opposition in 1890 but after some damning comments in the House regarding the Premier in 1891, he withdrew from politics altogether.
